A SOUTH AFRICA MEDAL WITH 1879 CLASP, MARKED TO THE 23RD FOOT,
good condition with suspender and clasp, replacement ribbon, the edge of the medal renamed to '2107 PTE W. WORSDALL, 23rd FOOT'
Provenance: Only one person from the 23rd Foot saw service in the Zulu wars, a Lieutenant E.R. Evans who was attached to the Royal Engineers. No record can be traced of a Worsdall with this service number and the remainder of the 23rd spent the whole of 1879 in England, having returned from the Anglo-Ashanti wars of 1873-74
