possibly converted from flint circa 1835, with browned damascus 8 1/2in. octagonal barrel marked on the top-flat 'NORTH EARL ST. DUBLIN', bead fore-sight, no provision for rear-sight, border and foliate engraved top-tang, borderline and scroll engraved lock of flint form and signed 'CALDERWOOD & SON' on the bar, walnut full-stock with chequered grip of Irish form, plain cross-key barrel fastener without escutcheons and captive iron under-barrel rammer
