A GOOD 18-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN, serial no. 9132,
circa 1860, with brushed bright variegated ribbon and rose twist etched damascus 32in. barrels, the flat top-rib signed in gold 'F. AUGUST FUNK IN SUHL', bead fore-sight, inlaid white-metal detail to rib and breech-end, fully scroll and shell engraved breech-blocks and top-tang, the latter featuring a silver-gilt washed hunting dog, border and scroll engraved back-action locks with central depictions of further silver washed hunting dogs, swing safeties forwards of the scroll engraved dolphin headed hammers, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, raised cheek-piece, iron furniture engraved with scrolls, the trigger-guard bow with a silver washed engraving of a hunter in traditional costume, horn trigger-guard tang cover and horn tipped mahogany ramrod
