26in. nitro barrels with 6mm raised matt top-ribs, gold-inlaid '1' and '2', side-ribs, top tubes engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. ENGLAND.', 3in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/2 choke (No.1) and 1/2 and full choke (No.2), hold-open toplevers, manual safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, side-bolsters, cocking-indicators, non-selective single triggers, best bouquet and scroll engraving, retaining virtually full original colour-hardening and finish, 14 5/8in. highly-figured stock including 1 1/8in. leather covered recoil pad, weight 7lb. 12oz. (No.1) and 14 1/2in. highly-figured stock including 1 1/4in. leather covered recoil pad, weight 8lb. (No.2). The makers have kindly confirmed that gun No.1 was completed in October 1954 with 26in. barrels, 3in. chambers (not magnum) for Mr Alfred Cowles and that gun No.2 was completed to match for the same client in October 1956
