for 1874, with octagonal 30 1/4in. damascus barrel, broad applied matted sighting-rib signed 'WILLIAM POWELL & SON' with dove-tailed bead fore-sight and 'Africa' style rear-sight comprising of six graduating folding leaves and one standing, border and shell engraved breech, border and scroll engraved long top-tang, engraved platinum plug, border, scroll and game-scene engraved bar-action lock featuring two stags on the run, sliding safety behind the scroll engraved hammer, chequered walnut pistol-grip half-stock, iron patch-box engraved with a tiger surrounded by border and scroll engraving, iron heel-plate (wood chipped at toe), engraved iron pistol-grip cap, scroll engraved trigger-guard tang and bow, single set trigger, engraved ball finial, engraved iron take-down wedge escutcheons, horn fore-end tip and original ramrod (traces of original finish throughout) TOGETHER WITH its original walnut case, compartmented and lined in green baize and containing the original ball-mould, a hollow-based bullet mould from gun number 6193, a spring clamp, a zinc-bodied powder flask by 'HAWKSLEY', an oil bottle and various small spare parts and a letter from Powells dated 1878 with instructions on loading
