A GOOD MID-VICTORIAN HAND-PAINTED POLICE TRUNCHEON FOR THE TOWN OF BRIGHTON,
circa 1865, 18 1/2in. overall, of tapering boxwood construction, decorated with a gilded Queen's crown above a Royal coat of arms above twin banners bearing the legend 'TOWN OF BRIGHTON' which in turn frame the town crest of two sea monsters, the reverse painted with gilded arabesques
