A RARE EARLY 12-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-BARRELLED FOWLING-PIECE, no visible serial number,
made up in the United States from available parts, mid-18th century, with 46 1/2in. sighted barrel, iron tang, flat bevelled lock signed 'P. GIRADE & COMPAGNIE', stepped tail, walnut full-stock (fore-and and butt with old repairs), border engraved brass mounts (rear-ramrod pipe and possibly nose-cap replaced), later ramrod.

Other Notes: this is a rare example of an 18th century American frontier fowling piece known by collectors as a 'type 6', built by frontier gunsmiths from available parts
