circa 1860, with browned ribbon-twist 34 1/2in. barrels, the top-rib in rose damascus and signed in gold 'A.W. EDEL IN LEIPZIG', bead fore-sight, silver lines and engraving at breech, engraved long top-tang, borderline and game scene engraved back action locks (traces of gilding), scroll engraved hammers with swinging safes to the front, walnut half-stock carved with scrolls at the wrist running into a mask at the pommel, raised cheek-piece with a deeply carved panel of scrolls behind, engraved iron heel-plate and trigger-guard, moulded horn trigger-guard tang cover, engraved iron ramrod throat and replacement wood ramrod
