A .45 (LONG COLT) SIX-SHOT SINGLE-ACTION SERVICE REVOLVER, MODEL '1873 ARMY', serial no. 116863,
for 1885, martially stamped and dated with the same date, blued 7 1/2in. barrel, single line address, colour-hardened frame with centrally mounted cylinder axle retaining screw, the left side of frame stamped with three lines of patents and 'US', blued grip-straps and trigger-guard, smooth walnut one-piece grip stamped with an oval martial cartouche and date on the left hand side and a rectangular cartouche to the right, all major parts stamped 'D.F.C.', much original colour and finish throughout
