converted from .375 Nitro Express, 28in. nitro reproved barrel engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98. NEW BOND STREET, LONDON' and 'WINNERS OF ALL THE "FIELD" RIFLE TRIALS, LONDON', open sights with two folding leaf sights, marked for 100, 200 and 300 yards, ramped bead fore-sight (replacement), the breech end with dovetailed telescopic sight mount rails, No.3 type detachable action, manual tang safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, frame internally mis-stamped '242188', border engraving and central 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND' details, the right side with action release lever, retaining much renewed colour-hardening and finish, triggerplate tang serial numbered 241 (remainder obscured by tang screw), 14 1/8in. pistolgrip stock (cracked and insert repaired at hand) with cheekpiece, engraved steel pistolgrip-cap (with trap), sling eyes, steel buttplate with trap, weight 8lb. 9oz.

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed in 1903 as a '.375 bore drop block action' for a 'Simon'

Literature: This rifle is referenced in 'British Single Shot Rifles Vol. 5 - Holland & Holland' by Wal Winfer, page 91. It marks serial no. 24188 as simply '.375' for 'Timan', no date listed.
