for 1891, 30in. nitro reproved damascus barrels (in 1969), the ribs engraved '"THE AUTOMATIC"' in gothic script and 'JAMES WOODWARD & SONS. 64. ST JAMES'S STREET. LONDON.' (refreshed) and gold-inlaid '1' and '2', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke (No.1) true cyl. and 1/4 choke (No.2), sideclipped Woodward 1881 patent snap-actions with arcaded fences, removable striker discs, the top straps gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, protruding tumbler pivots with gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, best fine acanthus scroll engraving, the faces of the actions engraved 'Woodward's Patent', 'THE AUTOMATIC 616' and '617' respectively, 14 1/2in. figured stocks including buttplates, weight 6lb. 8oz. (No.1) 6lb. 14oz. (No.2), in their brass-cornered oak and leather double guncase with some accessories including numbered spare striker pots, the tooled leather lid exterior marked 'J.F. RILEY.'
