for 1872, 26in. bold damascus replacement black powder barrels (by the makers circa 1896, serial numbered 6913) with Henry rifling, partially file cut rib with ornately engraved open sights and two leaf sights with white metal inlaid sight lines and marked for 100, 150 and 200 yds, bead fore-sight, the central section of the rib engraved 'ALEXR. HENRY LTD. MAKERS TO HER MAJESTY. EDINBURGH AND LONDON', slim action with Jones patent rotary underlever, carved percussion fences, elongated top strap, rebounding back-action locks with bolted hammers, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, brushed finish, 14 5/8in. figured pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, pistolgrip-cap, sling eyes and chequered steel buttplate, small plug at hand, slender fore-end with horn finial, weight 5lb. 13oz., in its brass-cornered leather case with some accessories, including a bullet mould engraved AH 2724 and a leather covered Hawkesley powder flask
Provenance: The makers records list rifle no. 2724 as a double centre fire rifle, .360 calibre, Henry rifling use number 1966, completed on 6th August 1872 as a 'Roe Rifle'.
The listing for serial no. 6913 is undated (numbers prior and post all dating to 1895/6) and lists 'BLLS. .360 TO 2724'
