German circa 1780, with octagonal 27 1/8in. barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight (traces of gilt), standing notch rear-sight with carved foot and additional un-notched blade, engraved laterally operating false breech gathering balls from the side-mounted magazine, bar-action lock with engraved tail and cocking-piece, the lock-bar signed in script 'STORMER', the left side with a similar shaped sideplate signed 'HERZBERG' and with wing safe, rounded brass top to the action engraved with stags and hounds in a woodland setting, leather covered stock reservoir of Girandoni form (covering renewed), double set triggers and expert replacement finely carved and chequered full-length fore-end with ebony tip, gilded brass ramrod thimbles and replacement ramrod
