28in. nitro reproved barrels, ribs gold-inlaid '1' and '2' and engraved 'W.J. JEFFERY & CO. LTD. 26 BURY STREET. ST. JAMES'S. LONDON.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/2 choke (No.1) and imp. cyl. and 3/4 choke (No.2), toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, fine bold acanthus scroll engraving, brushed finish overall, 14 3/8in. figured stocks including 3/8in. wooden buttplates, gun No.1 with slight setting cracks to rear of lockplates, weight 6lb. 8oz., in a leather double gunslip.
Provenance: The guns were purchased by the current owner some twenty years ago from Holland & Holland. The were both recently re-jointed and the ribs re-fixed, fully stripped, cleaned and overhauled by Holland & Holland in August 2008 and the vendor confirms that the guns have not been used since this work was completed.
