Provenance: We have kindly been supplied the following information by the makers:

Twenty-five years ago, Westley Richards was asked by some important clients to build side-locks to the highest standard that could be made. Simon Clode, then MD, specified the guns should have a fully rounded body and convex lock-plates, making them especially elegant.

The self-opening mechanism chosen was the 1922 Holland & Holland type, which is very reliable and operates remotely from the action and locks. The Greener single trigger was used (if optioned) and every gun was filed-up from British forgings in the traditional manner, with the best quality of work specified at every stage.

Between 2000 and 2015 Westley Richards made around ten 12-bores, twelve 20-bores, six 16-bores and a single 28-bore. In addition to the single guns, at least two trios (20-bores and 16-bores) have been made, and several pairs.

All these guns were made in the Birmingham factory, entirely from British materials (excepting the exhibition grade Turkish walnut stock blanks), by Westley Richards employees, with added input from the best British outworkers of the day. Each one was made to the very highest standards, without thought to cost. They represent the pinnacle of twenty-first century British gunmaking.

Serial Number 20239 was completed for an English client in September 2011.
