A .177 UNDER-LEVER AIR-RIFLE, MODEL 'THE BSA AIR RIFLE (IMPROVED MODEL 'D')', serial no. 27396,
for 1908/9, with 19 1/4in. barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight, period blanking-plate in lieu of rear-sight, hinged tap at breech, plain air-chamber marked 'THE BSA AIR RIFLE (IMPROVED MODEL D) THE BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS COMPANY. ENGLAND, SOLE MANUFACTURERS' (rubbed but legible), single screw trigger unit, chequered walnut straight-hand butt stamped with the BSA 'Piled Arms' trademark to left hand side, factory fitted folding aperture sight inlet to top of trigger unit, iron heel-plate, cast guard, no provision for fore-end and spade release catch to the under-lever (hinge bolt replaced), traces of finish with some light surface corrosion
