gun no. 1 and 2 with replacement 28in. nitro barrels (in 1978), gun no.3 and 4 with original 28in. nitro chopperlump barrels, ribs engraved 'ARMY & NAVY C.S.L. LONDON.', and engraved '1', '2', '3' and '4' at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/2 choke (no.1 and 2) and true cyl and 1/4 choke (no.3 and 4), automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, E.C. Hodges patent single triggers, patent no. 19,167 of 23rd September 1899, fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, retaining virtually full renewed colour-hardening and finish, approx. 16in. figured replacement stocks, the fore-end finials engraved '1', '2', '3' and '4', weights circa 6lb. 11oz., presented in a fitted brass-cornered oak and leather motor case with a reproduction Army & Navy trade label

Provenance: The makers records list the guns as having been completed in 1914 as individual pairs of guns, no. 57388 / 9 with 30in. barrels for a Mr Lake and 57390 /1 with 28in. barrels for a Gilbert Scott. Each gun is listed as costing 51 guineas
