A GOOD SCRIMSHAWED POWDER-HORN,
the horn late 18th to early 19th century, the scrimshawing possibly later, the body with a detailed map of North America (not to scale) and much of the East Coast and also featuring depictions of New York, period sailing vessels and a Georgian Royal crest, the horn nozzle reduced in thickness to give a contrasting colour and carved with two bands and an ogee border, the large end of the flask with a domed wood cap and a ogee bordered brass band (stopper missing, later suspension lanyard)
