ENGLAND.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/2 choke, self-opening action with removable striker discs, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, cocking-indicators, profusely engraved with bold acanthus scrollwork on a finely matted background, the lockplates with cartouches engraved with the makers name, the underside with an oval engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. LONDON. ENGLAND', retaining some original colour-hardening and finish, 14in. highly-figured stock, weight 6lb. 5oz., in its lightweight leather motor case with some accessories
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in June 1965 as 'a 12-bore hammerless ejector game gun, 6lb. 5 1/4oz., 28in. barrels with a 14in. stock'. The 'Notes' section details 'Large Scroll Engraving' (though no specific engraver is referred to)
