A 20-BORE FLINTLOCK CANNON-BARRELLED HOLSTER-PISTOL, no visible serial number,
circa 1775, with triple banded brushed bright turn-off 5 1/4in. cannon barrel marked for no. 2 of a pair, London proved rounded central hammer boxlock action engraved with borders and martial trophies, the left side signed 'R. WILLOUGHBY' within a field of scrolls, the right 'BIRMINGHAM' within a scrolled banner, rounded walnut butt with swollen pommel mounted with a silver grotesque butt-cap (hallmarks obscured), complex escutcheon at wrist beneath a field of inlet wire scrolls, sliding trigger bow safe, the whole heavily cleaned with some loss to detail
