A 9.5x47R (SCHEIBEN) BOLT-ACTION SINGLE-SHOT TARGET-RIFLE, MODEL 'SCHUTZENFEST MATCH', no visible serial number,
circa 1885, with blued octagonal 31 1/2in. barrel, the top-flat dove-tailed for an adjustable position rear-sight and signed 'V. CHR. SCHILLING IN SUHL', the side-flats marked 'GUSS' and 'STAHL' respectively, dove-tailed fore-sight blade with curved side-protectors, carved elevating tangent rear-sight, octagonal form borderline and scroll engraved colour hardened receiver with short straight bolt handle, no provision for safe, borderline and scroll engraved top-tang mounted with a pan-headed aperture sight, walnut tyrolean half-stock with chequered wrist and Swiss heel-plate, complex trigger-guard with integral palm-rest, double-set triggers, plain fore-end with moulded horn schnabel tip and iron under-barrel clearing-rod, much original finish remaining
