A MOST UNUSUAL CASED PAIR OF 25-BORE PERCUSSION HOLSTER-PISTOLS SIGNED 'KUCHENREUTER', no visible serial numbers,
circa 1840 and re-modelled and converted from earlier flintlock pistols, with re-browned round 10in. smoothbore barrels, carved raised shallow sighting ribs signed in silver inlay 'IOH AND KUCHENREUTER' inside an inlet silver wire border with arabesque scrolled terminals, the breech also deeply struck with a silver oval poincon of an armed man on horseback above the letters 'IAK', further inlet wire scrolls to the sides of barrel and muzzles, applied fore-sights, standing notch rear-sights to the engraved tangs elevating via a key-operated worm gear, European style border and scroll engraved bar-action locks signed 'MANTON & CO CALCUTTA', sliding safes forwards of the engraved slab-sided dolphin headed hammers (both spurs repaired), walnut full-stocks carved around the finial, ramrod channels and top-tang, swollen flattened butts of pseudo Irish form with engraved short side-spurred iron butt-caps, pillared iron trigger-guards with applied finger spurs, turned baluster ramrod thimbles and white metal mounted mahogany ramrods, complete with a walnut storage case compartmented and lined in green baize, Manton of Calcutta trade label inside lid and containing a fine two-way Sykes flask, a ball mould, sighting key, turn-screw, oil-bottle and cleaning rod
