A 40-BORE FLINTLOCK CANNON-BARRELLED RIFLED POCKET-PISTOL WITH WHITE METAL MOUNTS, no visible serial number,
circa 1775, with multi-stage turn-off multigroove rifled 2 1/4in. cannon barrel, London proofs to underside of breech, scroll and trophy engraved rounded boxlock action signed in a banner on the left hand side 'W. MANSELL', pedestal pan, central cock, trigger-guard safe and bulbous walnut butt with wire scroll inlaid decoration and white metal butt-cap featuring a rampant lion above a ruined tower, butt cracked at head with loss to right top-side, top-nail replaced.
