French circa 1850, with round brushed bright tapering 2 3/4in. break-open rifled barrel, St. Etienne proofs, squared borderline and checkerboard engraved open iron action featuring central panels of American scrollwork and stars at the intersection of each checker, central hammer, Lefaucheux forward-facing swing under-lever opening, walnut fluted grip with mouldings at the head and faceted iron pommel with ball finial, concealed automatic trigger, overall length 7 1/4in.
