A WELL COMPOSED PAIR OF 16-BORE FLINTLOCK INDO-PERSIAN HOLSTER-PISTOLS, UNSIGNED, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1800 with possibly earlier round 12in. in the white barrels, one with engraved sighting plane for two thirds of the length, both with plain breeches and solid flared tangs, flat curved bridleless locks with gilt washed engraved panels, swan-necked cocks, ribbed frizzens of differing styles, walnut full-stocks with carved detail around the top-tangs and decorated with further borderline carving and nails, bulbous white metal long eared butt-caps with floral engraving and possible traces of gilt wash, one pistol with a red coral bead at pommel, the other a white, carved and moulded trigger guard bow and trigger plate, Farsi style inscriptions behind finial, pierced and engraved complex sideplates of white metal and thin pierced sheet white metal barrel bands with ebonised ramrods, both actions at fault
