circa 1864, 30in. black powder only damascus barrels, the rib engraved 'CHARLES LANCASTER. 151 NEW BOND ST. LONDON. PATENT BREECH LOADER.', and with acanthus scroll detailing at the breech-end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, Charles Lancaster patent slide-and-tilt action with patent rotary-underlever, striker discs, non-rebounding back-action locks, hammers with spurs of hare's-ear form, the action and lockplates engraved with best bold acanthus scrollwork, the triggerguard tang engraved with a trio of pheasants, 14 3/4in. figured stock including 7/8in. rubber recoil pad, fore-end with cross-pin release catch and horn finial, weight 6lb. 10oz.
