A FINE CASED .44 (RUSSIAN) SMITH & WESSON NEW MODEL No.3 SIX-SHOT REVOLVER, serial no. 35624,
for 1898, with blued 6 1/2in. barrel, the raised sighting rib marked 'SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS U.S.A.', square cut target fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with drift adjustable blade, blued fluted auto-ejecting cylinder, blued break-open frame, colour hardened hammer, trigger and trigger-guard bow, replacement factory chequered rosewood grips, the whole retaining the majority of its original factory blued finish (wear to grip-straps), together with a possibly period after-market leather-covered wood storage-case lined and compartmented in dark green baize and containing a period box of spent cases, four dummy rounds, an oil-bottle and two cleaning brushes, the case lid printed with 'D.B. CANDLER, JR' and also accompanied by a S&W factory historic provenance letter
