A FAIRBURN-SYKES MODEL 'B2' DAGGER,
circa 1943-44, with blacked 6 5/8in. blade (finish lost through use), blued oval iron cross-guard with broad arrow and 'B2' stamp, blacked copper-alloy hilt with roll-engraved chequering and bun pommel-nut (some wear to finish), complete with its issue leather scabbard with blacked iron flat-nosed chape, sleeve tabs and remnants of its elastic retainer
Provenance: This dagger was carried by the vendor's father, a paratrooper, during the last years of the war and was present at Arnhem during operation 'Market Garden'. The vendor's uncle, also a paratrooper, lost his life at Nijmegen during the same campaign
