A .44 RIMFIRE BALLARD'S PATENT FALLING BLOCK SPORTING RIFLE CIRCA 1863, serial no. 10557 24 in octagonal barrel with dovetailed blade front-sight and fixed mule ear vee rear-sight, the action body stamped on the left 'BALL & WILLIAMS / WORCESTER MASS' and 'MERWYN & BRAY AGTS. NEW YORK', and on the right 'BALLARD'S PATENT / NOV. 5 1861', the falling block action is operated by an underlever and has a centre hammer, the action body is drilled for a tang sight, two piece walnut stock the butt with crescent butt plate, the rifle has good barrel and action, the stock worn and cracked in places the forend damaged and pieces missing,
