for 1883, 30in. replacement nitro barrels (by the makers in 1927), the rib engraved 'WESTLEY RICHARDS 23 CONDUIT ST. LONDON.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. full choke in both, some dents and rusting, left bore dimension marginal, Anson & Deeley scroll-back action, patent No. 1756 of 1875, use number 6999 with Westley Richards patent toplever and incorporating Deeley patent ejector, use number 5611, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, fine acanthus scroll engraving with beaded bordering and shell motifs, the triggerguard with a running hare, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening and finish, 14 3/8in. well-figured stock including chequered horn buttplate, fore-end with Deeley & Edge patent release catch and horn finial, weight 6lb. 3oz., in a canvas case

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed as a 16-bore hammerless ejector in December 1883 for Stephen Burk Esq., paired with gun no. 13863.
It was resold by Westley Richards on the 9th May 1899 to R.W. Hudson Esq., and then subsequently on to Captain Scott Hopkins in January 1924. New steel barrels were fitted for Captain Hopkins in 1927
