A RARE CASED 120-BORE PERCUSSION PRESENTATION GRADE TRANTER PATENT REVOLVER TO ISAAC SMITH, serial no. 13946T,
third model circa 1857, with 3 1/2in. octagonal barrel with near full coverage of borderline and scroll engraving, dove-tailed bead fore-sight, shallow notch rear-sight to top of standing breech, the scroll and rope-twist engraved top-strap with central oval panel engraved with the owner's name 'ISAAC SMITH', fully scroll engraved frame, borderline engraved five-shot cylinder with further scroll engraving over each chamber, spur-less hammer, inverted 'Y' shaped safe spring, Tranter's patent trigger cocking mechanism, finely chequered walnut butt and scroll engraved rammer, the whole refinished and in its maker's mahogany case lined and compartmented in dark green baize and including a flask, mould, turn-screw, nipple-key and various cap and bullet tins, all contemporary to the revolver, the interior of lid with James Bryce, Edinburgh trade label (lid cracked lengthways)
