A .250 (ROOK) SIDE-LEVER HAMMERLESS EJECTOR ROOK & RABBIT RIFLE SIGNED WILLIAM POWELL & SON, serial no. 43439 (N12951),
circa 1910, with blued octagonal 25in. barrel, machine engraved top-flat with dove-tailed bead fore-sight and standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, the adjacent top-flats signed 'WM. POWELL & SON' and 'CARRS LANE BIRMINGHAM', the left side of barrel with later South African registration number, borderline and scroll engraved rounded receiver with side-lever cocking and swing safe to the right hand side, moulded and carved raised shallow fences, borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, figured walnut pistol-grip butt-stock with iron heel-plate and capped grip, chequered walnut splinter fore-end with horn tip, much finish remaining and traces of colour
