for 1909, 25 7/8in. nitro reproved chopperlump barrels (converted from .303 calibre, London proofed 1985), with finely matted sight rib, four folding leaf sights with silver-inlaid sight lines and marked for 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards, finely matted ramp-mounted bead fore-sight with flip-up moonsight, the breech end mounted with a Zeiss Diavari-Z 1,5...6x42 T* telescopic sight, serial no. 1822359, in quickly-detachable mounts, bolted automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, removable striker discs, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, Boss 1905 improved patent single trigger, rolled-edge triggerguard, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, retaining virtually full renewed colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/8in. very highly-figured replacement pistolgrip stock with matching fore-end wood, cheekpiece, engraved and colour-hardened pistolgrip-cap, weight 8lb. 2oz. (unscoped) and 9lb. 7oz. (with scope), in a lightweight leather case with canvas outer

Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this rifle was completed in September 1909 in .303 calibre and expressly balanced to come-up like a shotgun. It was commissioned by David Forbes, Esq.

Literature: Boss double rifles are extremely rare, according to Donald Dallas in his definitive history of the company 'BOSS & Co. Best Gunmakers', he states that 'Boss have only made eleven double rifles since 1891'
