dating from the years 1902-1908, with 14 original watercolours by A.E. Cathcart (late of King's Royal Rifle Corps) plus a number of period photographs of shoots mostly from abroad, together with a hand-written family tree between the years 1178-1853 (including the family of Lord Cathcart), cover detached and worn, some mild foxing to pages

Provenance: Capt. Augustus Ernest Cathcart was born on 4 March 1875, in Hythe, Kent, England. His father, Col. Hon Augustus Murray Cathcart, was 44 and his mother, Jean Mary Orde-Powlett, was 28. He served in the Transvaal and Orange River regions before later marrying Hilda Renee Lee on 10 June 1913. He lived in Kirkby Wharfe, Yorkshire for about 10 years and Cheriton, Kent in 1911. At the outbreak of war in 1914, he registered again for military service. Sadly his service was short-lived and he was killed on 14 September 1914 in France, at the age of 39 and was buried in Paissy, Aisne, France.
