A SCARCE CASED .320 (SHORT REV) HILL'S PATENT 'THE STANLEY BULLDOG' AUTOMATIC EXTRACTING POCKET REVOLVER, serial no. C66626,
circa 1880, with octagonal 3in. barrel, the right hand side inscribed 'HILL'S PATENT No.401', the right 'THE STANLEY BULLDOG', faceted top-strap with crescentic 'claw' operating on the cylinder extraction star, break up and over frame released via a catch at the bottom front edge of frame, the right side of frame marked 'JOINT PATENTS, STANTON & CO.' over the serial number, plain blued six-shot cylinder, quick detachable side-plate for field-stripping, chequered walnut birdshead grips and guarded double-action trigger, the whole retaining fair traces of blued finish and in a period blued baize lined and compartmented oak casing with turn-screw, oil bottle and cleaning rod
