A SCARCE DE-ACTIVATED FANTASY GERMAN OFFICERS .22 FOUR-SHOT PISTOL BELT BUCKLE, serial no 1
manufactured post war, measuring approximately 6in. by 2in. by 1 1/2in., lift up face-plate fully engraved with oak leaves and a centrally applied repaired German army eagle clutching a swastika within a wreath in its talons, internal spring-loaded four-shot rectangular barrel group, each barrel capable of independent fire with its own side-mounted button trigger, various spurious waffenampt marks and engraved 'BNR 44 SS' on the base of the body (sympathetic deactivation with fully moving parts)
Provenance: Much speculation has surrounded the originality of these pistol-buckles since examples first came to light shortly after World War 2. Based on a French patent from the 1930's there is no doubt that the Nazis drew up designs for these devices, however to date only one design, that of a two-shot model has been verified as genuine. The publication, Firearms Curiosa (Lewis Winnant,1956) pictures an almost identical buckle to the one presented here, also serial number 1, which is stated in the book to be original, but doubt exists.
