AN EXCEPTIONALLY FINE CASED PAIR OF 32-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED PISTOLS, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1850, with browned twist 6 1/4in. barrels, the top-ribs signed 'W. CHILD 280, STRAND LONDON', silver bead fore-sights, colour-hardened scroll engraved breech-blocks with platinum plugs, fully scroll-engraved colour-hardened top-tangs, border and scroll engraved colour-hardened curved back-action locks signed 'W. CHILD', sliding safes behind the colour-hardened scroll engraved dolphin headed hammers, walnut full-stocks with chequered pistol-grip butts, blued and engraved iron butt-caps with concealed cap-boxes, border and scroll engraved blued trigger-guard bows and tangs, colour-hardened trigger-plates and finials, captive iron under-barrel ramrods and white-metal oval take-down wedge escutcheons, both pistols remaining in a remarkable state of preservation with some isolated losses to finish through case-wear TOGETHER WITH their manufacturers original mahogany storage case, compartmented and lined in dark green velvet and containing a full compliment of the original accessories including a three-way flask, ball mould, cap-tin, oil bottle, loading rod and suede bag for cast balls, the lid with clipped corner parchment trade label for W Childs, the outer lid with vacant brass coin-edged circular escutcheon, hook closure and lock with key
