MAUSER
AN 8X57S BOLT-MAGAZINE STUTZEN SPORTING RIFLE, serial no. 126265,
19 3/4in. nitro reproved barrel (in 2000), block-mounted open sights with folding leaf sight marked for 100 and 200 metres, ramp-mounted bead fore-sight, the receiver (with thumb cutout) mounted with an EIB 6x44 telescopic sight, sidewall engraved 'MAUSER-WERKE A.G. OBERNDORF A.N.', receiver ring bearing Oberndorf 1939-50 proof marks, hinged floorplate with lever release, set triggers, bolt with reversed flag safety (original safety in rifle slip compartment), flat bolt handle, full length pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, sling swivels, pistolgrip-cap, 14 1/2in. pull including Mauser buttplate, together with gunslip, leather sling and Harris 1A2 Ultralight bipod

Provenance: The vendor has kindly informed us that he inherited the rifle from his father in the early 1990's. Family tradition has it that his Father acquired the rifle during the Second World War whilst an active member of the Danish resistance. Sadly no details of the exact method or location of the rifle's 'acquisition' were ever talked about, but the vendor remembers that his father also had a pair of fine German riding boots (which fitted no-one in the family) and a Nazi dress dagger (also not subject to discussion as to where and how they came into his possession).
