late 1830's, with two-stage 4 3/4in. barrel (traces of blued finish), pillar fore-sight, iron frame with hinged top-strap signed 'COCHRAN'S PATENT' and 'C.B. ALLAN, SPRINGFIELD MASS', push button manual indexing, standing notch rear-sight to rear of the top-strap, under-hammer with exposed guardless trigger, nickel receiver, smooth walnut one-piece grip, the seven shot magazine operating in the horizontal plane with nipples mounted beneath within a brass guard, traces of original finish throughout
