A 17TH CENTURY ENGLISH CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD,
circa 1690, with single-edged 31in. blade, a broad central fuller running full-length to the re-profiled tip, the first third pierced with holes and geometric shapes, the back edge with narrow fuller terminating 9 1/2in. from the tip and blending into a false edge, double kidney-bean iron guard with raised borders and scroll engraving to the front faces, moulded knuckle-guard with three bars joining the guard (reverse quillion missing), carved spherical pommel and variegated twisted silver wire binding with plaited borders, some surface corrosion and pitting, no scabbard
