circa 1906, 25 5/8in. nitro reproved chopperlump barrels (converted from .450 calibre, Ferlach proof marks for 1957), raised matt rib carved in gothic script 'JOHN RIGBY & CO. 72 ST. JAMES'S ST. LONDON', and bold scroll engraving at the breech end, open sights, ramped bead fore-sight, tubes later engraved 'SPECIAL 470 BORE BIG GAME RIFLE. FOR SPECIAL CORDITE CARTRIDGES AND BULLET 500GRS', treble-grip action with Rigby & Bissell patent rising third bite, patent no. 1141 of 1879, use number 874, carved leaf fences, slender toplever, manual safety with button release and gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail (safety at fault), removable striker discs, dipped-edge lockplates, chequered front trigger, fully engraved with bold foliate scroll engraving on a partially matted background, 15 1/2in. well-figured replacement pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, sling swivels, engraved steel pistolgrip-cap and including 1/2in. rubber recoil pad, fore-end with Rigby patent screw-grip fore-end fastener and Rigby patent ejector / non-ejector selector nut, weight 10lb. 15oz., with a universal leather case
