A LATE 18TH CENTURY LIGHT CAVALRY SABRE, UNSIGNED,
central European circa 1790, with curving broad fullered hatchet point 34 1/2in. blade (some discolouration and edge nicks), the fuller engraved with busts, scrolls and astrological symbols (traces of gilt wash at forte), iron hilt with straight cross-guard, single turned down quillion, 'P' shaped knucklebow, twin narrow langets, carved lionshead pommel and wire-bound chequered wood grip (some small losses to grip-piece), complete with its original iron bound scabbard, both sides with three flat oval windows showing the leather beneath, missing one of its original pair of suspension rings
