AN UNUSUAL CASED .44 PERCUSSION REVOLVER, MODEL '1860 ARMY', serial no. 193604,
for 1871, with round 8in. blued barrel signed 'ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA', nickel fore-sight, sighting notch to the hammer nose, plain stepped cylinder with roll-engraved scene, iron open frame marked 'COLT'S PATENT' (re-coloured), brass trigger-guard and front grip-strap (traces of silver plating), one-piece smooth walnut grip and under-barrel rammer, much finish remaining except where noted, some mild pin-prick pitting, in an unusual, probably later storage case covered in black leatherette with gold-lined edging, compartmented and lined in blue velvet for this and another similar pistol and complete with cap tins, a brass flask covered in a similar style to the case, a later 'L' shaped nipple-key, a period cleaning rod and a 'COLT'S PATENT' double-cavity iron mould.
