A VERY RARE .236 (USN) SPORTING-RIFLE, MODEL 'WINCHESTER-LEE STRAIGHT-PULL (1895)', serial no. 14935,
for 1908, with blued rapid taper 24in. barrel, ramp and blade fore-sight, elevating buckhorn rear-sight, the barrel signed 'MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. USA.', the side of barrel at breech further marked 'NICKEL STEEL BARREL ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER', squared blued receiver marked with the makers details and patent dates to 1898 together with 'FROM F.W. SHEARD, TACOMA WASH', bolt release to left hand side at rear, cranked bolt handle, walnut half-stock with capped pistol grip and chequered iron heel-plate, attached magazine for charger loading, the whole possibly expertly refinished
