Belgian circa 1850, with 29 1/4in. barrels, the top-rib with later signature 'H. L. HARDY', bead fore-sight, moulded breech-blocks, engraved top-tang with shallow sighting groove, border and scroll engraved back-action locks, the right signed around the base of the hammer 'AGLON', the left 'SAARN', walnut half-stock, the chequered panel at wrist overlaid with a relief carved head of a stag, raised cheek-piece with a carved panel behind featuring a hunting dog in a woodland setting, moulded horn trigger-guard bow and lower tang, plain fore-end with complex barrel key escutcheons and brass tipped wood ramrod
