A RARE AND IMPRESSIVE 12-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED UNDER-LEVER HAMMER HOWDAH-PISTOL, serial no. 2343,
circa 1872-75, with browned fine damascus 8in. rifled barrels, the flat top-rib signed 'H. Holland, 98 NEW BOND St. LONDON (possibly refreshed), dove-tailed blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with additional folding leaf, colour hardened swing-lever borderline and scroll engraved action (minor surface fracture) with shallow percussion fences, border and scroll engraved colour-hardened back-action locks signed 'H. HOLLAND', non-rebounding hammers, finely chequered walnut butt with shallow domed engraved butt-cap fitted with a lanyard eyelet, color hardened under-lever, blued trigger-guard and chequered diminutive walnut fore-end held via a cross-key, the whole retaining virtually all its original finish and colour and appearing little used
