A GERMAN NAVAL OFFICER'S DRESS SWORD,
1920s, with 31in. slightly curved pipe-backed nickelled steel blade with ricasso marked 'E & F HORSTER / SOLINGEN' with their mark on reverse side, guilded hilt and folding guard with fouled anchor cypher to one side and scabbard lock to other, lion's head pommel. oak leaf ferrule, white bone grip bound with copper wire, together with its black leather scabbard with decorated brass mounts and two suspension rings, eagle inspection mark to drag, scabbard and folding scabbard lock both numbered 'O.1516', some shallow pitting towards the blade point, top two wire loops on grip a little loose, a little denting to the chape, scabbard leather with grazes, 37 1/4in. overall
