A CASED .36 DELUXE ENGRAVED COLT MODEL 1862 POLICE PERCUSSION REVOLVER, CIRCA 1863, serial no. 22556,
with round silver-plated 5 1/2in. barrel signed 'ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA', engraved band and scrolls at muzzle, the first three fifths of the barrel and side-cheeks engraved with open American scrolls with a circle-punched background, stepped and fluted cylinder (traces of gilding), the scroll engraving repeated over each chamber and around the rear-end of cylinder, silver-plated scroll engraved open frame, engraved and gilt-washed hammer, partially engraved silver-plated grip-straps and trigger guard, gilt-washed trigger-blade and creeping rammer (faded), grips absent, complete with an American market Colt-style wood case (possibly later) and including a fine Dixon flask, an unopened box of 'Colt's Patent' combustible wire cartridges, and unsigned snail capper, iron 'Colt Patent' bullet mould, a tin of eley caps, an oil bottle and later nipple key
