A .577 PERCUSSION ENFIELD PATTERN 1853 3RD MODEL VOLUNTEER RIFLE, no visible serial number, circa 1862, with 39in. Birmingham proofed barrel fitted with barleycorn front-sight and ladder rear-sight, borderline engraved lock with the Crown cypher on tail and 1862 to centre, brass mounted regulation full walnut stock, barrel to grey patina, speckled overall, stock with some wear, replacement rod, probably an American Civil War Enfield.
