A BEST QUALITY CASED .30 (RIMFIRE) SHARPS PATENT FOUR-BARRELLED DERRINGER, SIGNED TIPPING & LAWDEN, serial no. 159,
circa 1870, with 3in. barrel-group, engraved band to the muzzles, the centre of the barrel sides engraved with scrolls and each with an oval chequered panel forming a thumb grip, fully scroll and florally engraved silver plated brass frame (plating thinned in places) the frame signed 'TIPPING & LAWDEN SHARP'S PATENT' in a circle around the hammer axis screw on the left hand side, centrally mounted blued hammer with rotary auto-indexing nose (mainspring at fault), chequered ebony grips, blued push button opener and spur-trigger, the whole retaining much finish and appearing little used, complete with a period burr-walnut veneered storage box lined in blue baize and containing a cleaning rod, oil bottle, turn-screw and with a lidded compartment for ammunition
